Cuiabá begins LED lighting replacement in Santa Terezinha

The City of Cuiabá has begun replacing 681 public lighting points with LED technology in the Santa Terezinha neighborhood. This initiative is part of the ‘Ilumina Mais Cuiabá’ program, a partnership between the municipal government and the Government of Mato Grosso through the ‘MT Iluminado’ agreement.

The project involves replacing existing metal vapor lamps with high-efficiency LED equipment. The goal is to have 100% of the neighborhood illuminated with the new technology by August 25. According to Limpurb Director-General Felipe Wellaton, the modernization aims to improve energy efficiency, public safety, and quality of life for residents.

Financially, the transition is expected to be highly cost-effective. Each LED lamp can reduce energy consumption by approximately 60%. In the Santa Terezinha neighborhood, this is estimated to result in a monthly saving of R$ 24.5 thousand, totaling roughly R$ 294 thousand per year. The total investment for this implementation exceeds R$ 300 thousand.
