Cuiabá City Hall proposes equal advertising rules for merchants during elections
The City Hall of Cuiabá has submitted a bill to the Municipal Chamber that proposes equalizing commercial advertising rules with those permitted for electoral propaganda during election periods.
Mayor Abilio Brunini stated that the measure aims to provide equivalent treatment for merchants and business owners as candidates. Currently, electoral law allows certain advertising formats—such as wind banners, flyer distribution, and signage on campaign committee facades—that are not permitted under existing municipal commercial regulations.
If approved, merchants would be allowed to use these formats during the election period without being charged the standard municipal fees. The proposal is intended as a temporary measure; once the election period concludes, the standard municipal advertising regulations will resume.
