Cuiabá Council Begins Review of Master Plan and Minimum Lot Size Policy

The Municipal Development Strategic Council of Cuiabá started an analysis of key urban planning issues, including the revision of the city’s Master Plan (Plano Diretor) and a proposal to set a 200‑square‑metre minimum for new urban lots. The meeting, held on Friday, brought together the city’s planning, environment, social security, and economic development secretaries.

Council members approved the creation of three thematic chambers – one temporary chamber to focus on the Master Plan revision and two permanent chambers for sanitation & environment and housing & urbanism – with a 15‑day deadline to draft recommendations. Officials highlighted the need to address rapid urban growth, drainage, stream restoration, population density, housing supply, and preservation of natural ventilation and green cover in the capital.
