Cuiabá expands ‘Laços Afetivos’ project to support pregnant women

The city of Cuiabá is expanding the ‘Laços Afetivos’ project, an initiative designed to support pregnant women and strengthen family bonds. Developed by the municipal government through the World Organization for Pre-School Education (OMEP), the project aims to promote early childhood development by providing care and information starting during pregnancy.

The program is supported by R$ 200,000 in parliamentary amendments facilitated by Councilman Kássio Coelho. Over the course of five meetings, participants receive guidance from various professionals on topics including social rights, mental health, breastfeeding, and infant care.

In addition to educational support, the project offers psychological monitoring to address issues such as anxiety and postpartum depression. Participants also receive a baby layette kit and a professional photo session to document their pregnancy.
