Cuiabá hosts Pan-American Beach Tennis Championship
The Pan-American Beach Tennis Championship is being held at CT Pantanal in Cuiabá, Brazil, featuring approximately 350 athletes from 16 different countries. The competition includes participants from the United States, Puerto Rico, Argentina, Colombia, Chile, Canada, and several other nations.
Brazil enters the tournament as a dominant force, aiming to defend its previous performance where it secured 43 medals, including 15 gold. In the professional categories, Daniel Mola and Giovanni Cariani are seeking a repeat title in the men's division, while Julia Nogueira and Marcela Vita aim for a consecutive championship. In the women's professional category, world ranking leaders Vitória Marchezini and Sophia Chow are working to reclaim the gold medal after a third-place finish in the previous edition.
In the youth categories, 17-year-old João Godoy, currently ranked 3rd in the world junior rankings, will represent Mato Grosso in the Under-18 division. The event's opening ceremony featured local authorities and a parade of the 16 participating delegations.
