Cuiabá installs 34‑camera surveillance system in Parque das Águas

The municipality of Cuiabá has begun installing a video‑monitoring network in Parque das Águas. The system will comprise 34 high‑resolution cameras equipped with facial‑recognition and license‑plate‑reading technology and will be linked to the state’s Vigia Mais program and the Integrated Public Safety Operations Center (CIOSP). Installation work, including fiber‑optic cabling, was completed on 27 May and the full deployment is expected within the next two weeks.

Mayor‑appointed Secretary Fellipe Corrêa said the aim is to “provide more safety and tranquility for families and tourists” and that the cameras will alert police when they detect individuals with outstanding warrants or suspicious vehicle activity. Technical advisor Rodrigo Toledo explained that alerts will be sent instantly to the State Security Secretariat. The project is being carried out with partners including the urban services firm Limpurb and the municipal mobility department (Semob). Local visitor Bianca Fernanda Cunha Gonçalves Peixoto welcomed the measure, noting that real‑time monitoring gives her confidence when bringing her child to the park.
