Cuiabá labor court convicts couple for bad-faith litigation

A labor court in Mato Grosso has convicted a worker and a witness for bad-faith litigation after they lied during a legal proceeding in Cuiabá. The witness repeatedly denied having a romantic relationship with the plaintiff, claiming they only had a professional connection.

However, the defendant company presented evidence proving the two were married, including social media screenshots where they identified as a married couple and a residential lease agreement listing the witness as the worker's spouse.

Judge Pablo Saldivar, presiding over the 3rd Labor Court of Cuiabá, disregarded the testimony and ordered fines for the misconduct. The worker was fined 5% of the case value, and the witness was fined 3%, with the proceeds to be paid to the company.
