Cuiabá launches 'Beabá do Sorriso' oral‑health program for municipal schoolchildren
The municipal government of Cuiabá, Brazil, inaugurated the "Beabá do Sorriso" project to provide permanent oral‑health promotion, prevention and care for children and adolescents in the city’s public schools. The initiative, coordinated by the Municipal Health Department’s Oral‑Health Division in partnership with the Municipal Education Department, will be carried out by Family Health Strategy dental teams.
Weekly visits to preschools and schools will include supervised tooth‑brushing, topical fluoride application, dental examinations and, where needed, minimally invasive ART (Atraumatic Restorative Treatment). Teachers, school administrators and families will be involved to reinforce healthy habits. The program aims to reach 100 % of municipal schools within twelve months and to provide oral‑health activities in all public schools within twenty‑four months.
The official launch took place on Wednesday, the 29th, at 9 a.m. in the auditorium of the Municipal Education Secretariat on Rua Diogo Domingos Ferreira, Bandeirantes, Cuiabá.
