Cuiabá launches municipal registry for visual artists
The Cuiabá City Hall has launched the first Municipal Registry of Visual Artists to identify professionals working in the capital. Developed by the Municipal Secretariat of Culture, the initiative aims to collect data on artists' trajectories, techniques, experiences, and portfolios.
The registry is intended for muralists, graffiti artists, painters, lettering artists, and other visual professionals. This information will allow the Secretariat to select artists for specific projects based on their profiles and technical needs. The data will also support an artistic revitalization project scheduled to begin this semester.
Mapping efforts are currently focusing on several locations, including the Federal University of Mato Grosso (UFMT) viaduct, public spaces in the Despraiado region, municipal schools, elderly care centers, squares, and various tourist spots. The project seeks to promote a dialogue between traditional and contemporary art while respecting the city's history and cultural identity.
