Cuiabá and Mato Grosso launch security, education, and election initiatives

The municipal administration of Cuiabá and the state of Mato Grosso are implementing several key initiatives regarding public security, education, and electoral preparation.

In terms of public security, the 9th edition of Operação Centro Seguro has launched across 142 municipalities in Mato Grosso. The operation, which runs until October 1, utilizes 367 new police personnel, including 300 student-soldiers and 67 cadets, to increase patrolling in commercial areas and high-traffic zones to prevent robberies and thefts.

Regarding education, Mayor Abilio Brunini announced that the municipal education department has received R$ 1.045 billion, representing 26.5% of the city budget. This includes R$ 28 million for school infrastructure improvements and maintenance. The administration is also hosting the 2nd Alfabetiza MT Seminar to share pedagogical strategies among educators.

For the 2026 General Elections, the Tribunal Regional Eleitoral de Mato Grosso (TRE-MT) has planned a security operation involving over 5,000 professionals from various forces, including the Military and Civil Police, the Army, and the Navy.
