Cuiabá Mayor Abilio Brunini Clashes with Council Over Secretarial Offer

Cuiabá councilor Katiuscia Mantelli (Podemos) said Mayor Abilio Brunini offered the Podemos party a municipal secretariat on the condition that council member Ilde Taques take the post, a move she said was intended to block Ilde’s bid for the Chamber presidency. Mantelli reported that no further negotiations occurred and that the Podemos group was later removed from a government WhatsApp channel.

Later, Brunini told reporters that his office remained open to all councilors but criticized opposition members for airing their grievances on social media and in plenary sessions rather than seeking dialogue with the executive. He claimed some critics use public statements to gain online visibility, arguing that councilors should focus on mediating residents' demands with the municipal government.
