Cuiabá Mayor Abilio Brunini Starts Tactical Motor‑Patrol Program and Takes 15‑Day Leave

Mayor Abilio Brunini of Cuiabá received a group of 27 police officers who completed 60 days of theoretical and practical instruction for the city's Tactical Motor‑Patrol unit, known as the “Cavaleiros de Aço.” The officers began a 15‑day operational stage on 21 March, during which they will be evaluated in real‑world patrol situations across the capital to strengthen the fight against criminal factions.

Separately, Brunini announced he will take a 15‑day leave to assist his wife, Samantha Iris, in her campaign for a seat in the state Legislative Assembly. He said the temporary absence is to avoid compromising city management while he travels to support his spouse’s candidacy. Vice‑mayor Vânia Rosa (MDB) has been notified and may assume mayoral duties, though she is also a pre‑candidate for the Assembly, raising questions about her eligibility to serve. If Rosa cannot take over, the city council president, Paula Calil (PL), could become acting mayor.
