Cuiabá Mayor waives vehicle removal and storage fees

Cuiabá Mayor Abilio Brunini has sanctioned a law providing an exceptional measure to facilitate the retrieval of cars and motorcycles scheduled for the Cuiabá 03/2026 Public Auction. The initiative waives municipal fees related to vehicle removal and storage costs.

The measure also allows the private company managing the impound lot to voluntarily waive its portion of the fees. According to the mayor, the goal is to assist low-income families and workers, such as app-based drivers and delivery personnel, who may be unable to recover their vehicles due to accumulated daily rates, which can reach R$ 75 for cars and R$ 45 for motorcycles.

While municipal removal and storage fees are waived, the law does not forgive all debts. Owners must still pay IPVA (vehicle property tax), traffic fines, licensing fees, and any outstanding debts owed to Detran-MT, the state, or the federal government. To retrieve a vehicle, owners must regularize their documentation and obtain current licensing.
