Cuiabá merchants' confidence index rises for second consecutive month

The Business Merchant Confidence Index (Icec) for Cuiabá increased by 4.9 points in July, reaching 105.4 and marking a second consecutive monthly rise. Compared with July 2025, the index is up 0.9 points. The index, measured on a 0‑200 scale, signals a shift from dissatisfaction to satisfaction among local traders.

Fecomércio-MT President Sebastião Gonçalves highlighted that the improvement reflects stronger sales prospects during the second‑half holiday season, despite a still‑unfavourable national economic backdrop. He noted that while 43.8% of merchants view Brazil’s overall economy as worsening, 44.8% see their own conditions improving at least slightly.
