Cuiabá officials partner to develop Pope John Paul II Memorial
The City of Cuiabá, the São João Paulo II Eucharistic Sanctuary, and the Fiemt System (via Sesi) are collaborating to transform the Pope John Paul II Memorial into a major religious tourism hub. The initiative aims to preserve the history of the pontiff's visit to the capital and establish the city as a destination for pilgrims.
During a meeting involving Mayor Abilio Brunini, Fiemt President Silvio Rangel, and Sanctuary Rector Father Marcos Ferrucci, architects presented a proposal to create a dedicated structure for the memorial. The project includes the inauguration of a sculpture of Pope John Paul II on October 16, marking the 35th anniversary of his visit to the region.
