Mato Grosso issues storm alerts for 133 municipalities

The Civil Defense of Mato Grosso has issued storm alerts for 133 municipalities following heavy rainfall across the state. At least 15 cities are currently in a state of emergency due to the weather conditions.

In Cuiabá, recent rainfall recorded between Wednesday and Thursday accounted for approximately 85% of the expected total volume for October. Data from the Federal University of Mato Grosso (UFMT) indicates that the Mestre Bombled station recorded 99 mm of precipitation, representing about 77% of the historical monthly average.

Authorities warn of significant risks, including flooding, rapid rises in river levels, landslides, and structural damage. Residents are advised to avoid flooded areas, stay away from rivers during intense storms, and monitor for signs of danger such as cracks in walls or leaning trees.
