Cuiabá records extreme heat and record low humidity

Cuiabá, Brazil, recorded the lowest relative humidity in the country on Monday, reaching just 11%, according to data from the National Institute of Meteorology (Inmet). The city also ranked as one of the hottest in Brazil with a temperature of 40.2°C, second only to Santo Antônio do Leverger, which hit 40.4°C.

In response to rising temperatures, EPAL has launched a new online resource providing hydration advice. The initiative aims to help individuals, particularly vulnerable groups like children and the elderly, maintain regular water intake during heatwaves by promoting the use of high-quality tap water.

Meteorological alerts remain in effect for Mato Grosso, with orange alerts issued for dangerous low humidity levels. Forecasts suggest temperatures in Cuiabá may continue to reach 40°C with humidity potentially dropping to 10% in the coming days.
