Cuiabá riverfront revitalization project announced by Mato Grosso Governor

Mato Grosso Governor Otaviano Pivetta and municipal officials have announced a revitalization plan for the Orla do Porto in Cuiabá. The project aims to transform the riverfront into a space for leisure, tourism, and social interaction by repairing damaged structures, replacing flooring, and adding landscaping, lighting, and video monitoring.

The proposal includes creating new access points to the Cuiabá River every 50 meters, installing playgrounds, and potentially developing a fluvial beach. To coordinate these efforts, the “Aliança pelo Rio Cuiabá” will be established, bringing together the state government and the municipalities of Cuiabá and Várzea Grande to address urban, environmental, and sanitation issues.
