Cuiabá school students hospitalized after ingesting suspected rat poison

Seven children were hospitalized after ingesting a substance identified as rat poison at the Marechal Cândido Mariano da Silva Rondon Municipal School in the Alvorada neighborhood of Cuiabá, Mato Grosso. The substance was reportedly brought to the school by a student.

According to the Cuiabá City Hall, the children initially received medical attention at the Morada do Ouro Urgent Care Unit (UPA). Six of the children, described as stable, conscious, and asymptomatic, were transferred to the Children's Medical Center (CMI) for observation and medical follow-up.

The seventh child, who is believed to have brought the poison to the school, presented a more serious condition and was transferred to the Cuiabá Municipal Hospital (HMC) for specialized care and toxicological monitoring. Authorities stated that all children are currently out of danger. The municipal health and education secretariats are providing support to the families.
