Cuiabá settles R$ 15 million debt for rural school transport
The Cuiabá Municipal Department of Education has finalized a payment of nearly R$ 15 million to companies responsible for rural school transportation. The funds cover services provided between April and August, resolving a situation where companies had been receiving fragmented and insufficient payments for over three years.
The rural school transport service operates 145 routes, covering an average of 240,000 kilometers per month across morning, afternoon, and sometimes night shifts. The outsourced service is managed by the companies Integração, Expresso Caribus, and Alternativa.
Education Secretary Reginaldo Teixeira stated that the regularization was achieved through a task force focused on cutting costs to meet these obligations. The initiative follows a directive from Mayor Abilio Brunini to ensure current expenses, particularly regarding transport and food, are paid on time.
