Cuiabá student in serious condition after violent car accident

Ana Julia Cortez da Guia, a 20-year-old dentistry student, remains in serious condition at the Hospital Municipal de Cuiabá following a violent car accident on Avenida Miguel Sutil. The collision occurred on Tuesday (15) when the student lost control of her Fiat Mobi, a vehicle purchased less than 20 days prior, and struck a pole.

The impact caused severe injuries, including traumatic brain injury, fractures to both arms, and three broken ribs. One fracture reportedly punctured a lung, causing internal bleeding. While her father stated she has only a 5% chance of survival, medical examinations, including computed tomography, have so far ruled out signs of brain death.

Ana Julia remains sedated and is receiving treatment including antibiotics and orthopedic care. Authorities are conducting forensic investigations to determine the exact circumstances of how the vehicle lost control before the collision.
