Cuiabá volunteers trained for prison rehabilitation program
Approximately 20 volunteers participated in facilitator training for the “A Viagem do Prisioneiro” (AVP) program in Cuiabá from September 10 to 12. This training is a preparatory step for individuals who will work with incarcerated populations and is part of the actions preceding the implementation of the first Association for the Protection and Assistance of Convicts (Apac) in Mato Grosso.
The initiative was promoted by the Operational Support Center (CAO) of Criminal Execution of the Public Prosecutor's Office of Mato Grosso (MPMT) and the Court of Justice of Mato Grosso (TJMT), in partnership with the Brazilian Fraternity for Assistance to Convicts (FBAC). Led by national coordinator Adilza Mendes Paraíso, the course prepared participants to apply the AVP methodology, initially at the Ana Maria do Couto May Women's Penitentiary.
The program is designed for prison environments to promote meetings focused on strengthening values, reflecting on life choices, and restoring hope through trained volunteers. The agenda also included institutional meetings to strengthen initiatives related to the future establishment of the Apac in Cuiabá.
