Cuipo Water Treatment Plant Progresses in Panama’s Colón Province

Construction of the Cuipo water treatment plant in the Ciricito corregimiento, on the shores of Lake Gatún in Colón Province, has reached about 30% completion. The project includes a floating raw‑water intake, a 500,000‑gallon‑per‑day package plant, a treated‑water pumping station, and two 30,000‑gallon elevated tanks, together with new conveyance lines, distribution networks and household connections.

The facility is expected to strengthen potable‑water supply for roughly 4,129 residents of communities such as Chorrillo, Caña Brava, Marañoncito, Nuevo Porvenir, Nuevo América and Achiote Cabecera. Antonio Tercero González, executive director of the Instituto de Acueductos y Alcantarillados Nacionales (IDAAN), said, "Cada avance en esta obra nos acerca al objetivo de garantizar un abastecimiento continuo y mejorar la calidad de vida de cientos de familias colonenses."
