Culiacán journalist's home shot at in latest attack

A home linked to journalist César Millán Lafarga – son and director of the newspaper Grupo Adiscusión – was attacked with gunfire in Culiacán, Sinaloa, on a Friday morning. Video shows a white Volkswagen circling the property before a man descended and fired an AK‑47‑type rifle at the façade around 08:27, causing only material damage and no injuries.

The incident is the third assault on the media outlet. The first was the 2011 kidnapping and murder of founder Humberto Millán Salazar, and the second was a June 2024 shooting that struck the newspaper's offices. Grupo Adiscusión condemned the latest attack, demanding a prompt, impartial and transparent investigation. A spokesperson quoted, “Treinta años de periodismo no se construyen sin asumir responsabilidades, pero tampoco deberían ejercerse bajo la amenaza de la violencia.” Authorities have opened a case to identify the perpetrators.
