Culiacán parents detained for school threats and funeral wreath incident

Authorities in Culiacán, Sinaloa, have detained and linked Benito “N” and María “N” to a legal process following an incident at a school in the Villas del Río residential area. The couple is accused of making threatening messages and leaving a funeral wreath at the school on August 31.

A judge has granted a conditional suspension of the process, imposing several restrictions on the parents. They are permitted to visit the school only to collect their daughter but must avoid any contact that could disturb students, teachers, or administrative staff. Additionally, they are prohibited from sending electronic messages or establishing contact with the educational community and must undergo psychological care. As part of their judicial obligations, the couple is also required to issue a written public apology. The Sinaloa State Attorney General's Office continues to investigate the case for the crimes of threats and intentional damage.
