Culiacán, Mexico sees murders and shooting of US youth

In Culiacán, Sinaloa, authorities discovered a homicide early on 6 June when a man was found dead on a sidewalk in the Ferrocarrilera colonia. The victim, estimated to be in his mid‑30s, was restrained with his hands tied, gagged with a white cloth, and partially covered with a dark blanket. Police noted a pig tied to his neck. The body was recovered after a 911 call at around 02:15 local time, and the scene was secured for forensic examination by the state prosecutor’s office. No arrests have been reported and the motive remains unknown.

Later that same day, a 19‑year‑old American citizen was severely wounded in the Valle Alto area of Culiacán after being shot five times while walking near a park adjacent to a police station. The victim was transported to a hospital under heavy security. Emergency services and the National Defense Secretariat responded to the scene, but investigators have not disclosed a motive or identified any suspects. Both incidents remain under active investigation with no arrests reported.
