Culinary mentorship programs announced for emerging chefs
New culinary mentorship programs have been announced to support emerging chefs in Australia, New Zealand, and the United Kingdom.
In Australasia, the 26th annual Proud to be a Chef program, hosted by Lactalis-Mainland Dairy, will feature 32 apprentice and trainee chefs for an immersive four-day experience in early 2027. Mentors for the program include pastry chef Anna Polyviou, executive chef Joachim Lim, and returning mentor Mark Normoyle.
In the United Kingdom, the Kettle Khoo Academy is entering its third year. The program will select five food pioneers for a six-month mentorship starting in November 2026. Led by chef Rachel Khoo and supported by Valeo Foods UK, the academy provides masterclasses, networking, and up to £4,000 in financial funding per mentee to assist with equipment, training, or childcare expenses. The initiative specifically encourages female applicants to address gender gaps in the sector.
