Culinary techniques for preparing perfect fried eggs

Various culinary techniques have been identified to improve the preparation of fried eggs, focusing on achieving a compact white and a liquid yolk.

Professional chefs suggest passing the egg through a strainer before frying. This allows the more liquid part of the white to drain away, leaving only the denser portion around the yolk, which is particularly helpful when using eggs that are not perfectly fresh. Another method involves adding a few drops of vinegar to the pan; the acetic acid aids in protein coagulation, helping the egg white to compact more quickly and maintain a defined shape.

For those using air fryers, success depends on using a heat-resistant container, such as a ramekin or silicone mold, rather than placing the egg directly on the basket. Preheating the air fryer to 180 °C and using a small amount of oil in the container helps prevent the egg from sticking and ensures the white cooks properly while maintaining the desired yolk consistency.
