Culinary tips for egg preservation and chicken preparation

Various methods exist to improve food quality and preparation in the kitchen, specifically regarding egg storage and cooking chicken breast.

To maintain the freshness of chicken or duck eggs, refrigeration is the most common method. It is advised not to wash eggs before storing them, as this can remove the natural protective membrane and allow bacteria to enter. For optimal stability, eggs should be placed in a dedicated container in a temperature-stable area of the refrigerator rather than the door. Another method involves wrapping individual eggs in aluminum foil and storing them in a cool, dry place to limit air exposure.

For preparing chicken breast, applying a layer of Greek yogurt before roasting can prevent the meat from becoming dry. Because chicken breast is lean and lacks fat, proteins tend to contract and expel moisture during high-heat cooking. The lactic acid in Greek yogurt helps loosen the protein structure, while the yogurt itself creates a protective barrier that retains moisture, resulting in juicier meat.
