Culinary training and certification initiatives launched in Mexico and Uruguay
In Guerrero, Mexico, Governor Evelyn Salgado Pineda led an evaluation for the Certification Program for Traditional and Ancestral Cooks. The initiative recognizes 81 cooks from various localities, including Acapulco, Zihuatanejo, and Tlapehuala, to preserve the state's cultural and gastronomic heritage. The program aims to validate the skills and generational knowledge of local culinary practitioners.
In Uruguay, the National Institute of Employment and Professional Training (INEFOP) has announced a national call for gastronomy training. Developed in collaboration with tourism and gastronomy sector organizations, the program seeks to update training catalogs to meet current labor market demands. The initiative focuses on competency-based learning to improve employment opportunities within the sector.
