Cullera restores Spanish Civil War coastal defense bunker

The municipality of Cullera has completed the restoration of a military bunker located at the Faro, a defensive structure built in 1938 during the Spanish Civil War. The bunker served as an advanced command post for coastal surveillance and coordination, monitoring the coastline between Cabo de Cullera and Denia to detect maritime and aerial threats.

Funded by a grant of approximately 106,749 euros from the Diputación de Valencia, the project focused on structural consolidation, archaeological research, cleaning, and the restoration of original finishes. The works also included improvements to lighting, electricity, accessibility, and the creation of a parking area. The local government is now working toward the final phase of the project, which involves transforming the site into a museum to preserve local history.
