Cultural activities in Rožňava and Žitnoostrovský jarmok
The Gemerské osvetové stredisko in Rožňava is launching a traditional crafts club for children aged 9 to 14. Starting October 6, 2026, the weekly sessions will take place at the Dom tradičnej kultúry Gemera. The program combines ceramic and textile workshops, allowing children to work with clay, leather, wood, and various textile techniques such as felting.
In the ceramics portion, participants will learn the full production process, including modeling, drying, firing, and decorating with engobes and glazes. The club also aims to introduce children to local Gemer traditions through historical tools and materials, focusing on developing fine motor skills and spatial perception.
Separately, the 44th Žitnoostrovský jarmok is concluding with a diverse program of family activities and musical performances. The event features children's programs, film screenings, art exhibitions, and historical demonstrations such as archery and horseback riding. The musical lineup includes various folk and contemporary performers, concluding with a concert by Chico & the Gypsies.
