Cultural and art events scheduled for late 2026 in Taiwan and Japan

Two distinct cultural events are scheduled for late October and early November 2026 in Taiwan and Japan, focusing on water and local heritage.

In Ershui, Changhua County, Taiwan, the 2026 Ershui International Water Festival will take place on October 31 and November 1. The festival, themed “Harvest,” features traditional religious ceremonies including a procession of palanquins from five major temples along the Babu Canal. The event aims to honor the history of the canal and includes activities such as a thousand-person walking event, music performances, and digital tours via an AR bilingual guide app.

In Yokosuka, Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan, the “Hashirimizu Water Source 2026” art project will be held from October 31 to November 3 at the former Hashirimizu Elementary School. The project explores the relationship between water, land, and community through various exhibitions, workshops, and symposiums. Featured activities include seaweed cyanotype workshops, vegetation field studies, and discussions regarding the connection between the sea and local learning.
