Cultural and culinary updates from Calabria
In Reggio Calabria, the historic Biondo Lab has reopened at via Filippini 82, bringing back traditional panzerotti and calzoni that have been a local staple since the 1960s and 1970s. The establishment, which evolved from the former Rosticceria Parisi, offers artisanal pastries, catering services, and party favors. The brand is also scheduled to participate in the Bergarè event from October 22 to 25.
In Cerchiara di Calabria, the Sanctuary of Santa Maria delle Armi remains a significant site of religious and historical interest. Carved into a cave on Monte Sellaro, the sanctuary is linked to legends of wooden icons of the Evangelists discovered by hunters. The site features a circular chapel carved into the rock, decorated with white marble and polychrome inlays, and houses a silver Baroque-style case containing an icon of the Madonna and Child.
