Terraperta ETS hosts food security awareness event in Bologna
The foundation Terraperta ETS, a collective including CEFA, No One Out, Amici dei Popoli, CMSR, Missione Calcutta, and Apurimac, is hosting the “Riempi il Piatto Vuoto” event in Bologna’s Piazza Maggiore. Scheduled for October 17, the initiative marks the first event under the newly formed foundation.
The event features a large-scale urban art installation created by illustrator Felicita Sala, using approximately 3,000 ceramic plates. The installation aims to engage the public in discussions regarding the root causes of global hunger, specifically focusing on climate change, armed conflict, and inequality.
This year’s project highlights food security challenges in the Karamoja region of Uganda, where extreme weather patterns, including droughts and floods, threaten agricultural and pastoral communities. Terraperta President Francesco Tosi stated that addressing food security is a collective duty centered on equity and climate justice rather than mere charity.
