Cultural and historical commemorations scheduled in Greece

Various cultural and historical commemorations are scheduled to take place in Greece in late September and early October 2026.

In Volos, the Association of Screenwriters of Greece is organizing an educational symposium titled ‘Ancient Greece and Extroversion’ at the Achilleion Cinema on October 3. The event will feature presentations by Konstantinos Phais, Vasiliki Varkliotou, and Vasiliki Magga, focusing on ancient Magnesia, Greek mythology, and the enduring cultural legacy of ancient Greece as a means of international communication.

Additionally, the Hierarchical Region of Amphilochia, under the Holy Metropolis of Aetolia and Acarnania, will hold commemorative events on September 26 to mark the 200th anniversary of the Exodus of Messolonghi. The program includes religious services in Amvrakia and a memorial service in Amphilochia. Researcher Nikolaos Telonas is scheduled to speak regarding the participation of the people of Valtos during the siege and the historic exodus.
