Cultural and historical events announced in Barberino Val d’Elsa and Bari

Italy is hosting several cultural and historical events. In Barberino Val d’Elsa, the “Memoriae et Historiae di Semifonte” medieval festival is scheduled for September 12 and 13 at the local medieval castle. Organized by the Municipality of Barberino Tavarnelle and the Happy Days Onlus association, the event features musical, theatrical, and performative activities. This year’s edition includes a theme centered on Saint Francis.

In Bari, historian and academic Alessandro Barbero will present a lecture titled “1914. How Europe plunged into the First World War” at the Teatro Petruzzelli on November 4. Part of the “Lezioni di storia” series promoted by Laterza and the Fondazione Petruzzelli, the lecture will examine the military buildup in Europe prior to the Great War. The event date coincides with the anniversary of the 1918 armistice between the Kingdom of Italy and the Austro-Hungarian Empire.
