Cultural and historical events held in Cayeux-sur-Mer and Arromanches
Various cultural and historical events are taking place in France. In Cayeux-sur-Mer, located in the Baie de Somme, celebrations include a traditional flower parade known as the 'corso fleuri' and a railway festival organized by the Chemin de Fer de la Baie de Somme (CFBS).
The flower parade features approximately twenty decorated floats adorned with thousands of plants and crepe paper, moving through the maritime town. Simultaneously, the 'Fête de la Gare' offers visitors an immersion into regional railway history with vintage locomotives.
In Arromanches, Calvados, amphibious boat tours aboard 'L’Archimède' are providing close-up views of the Mulberry B artificial port vestiges. These historical remains, including the Phoenix caissons and 'Whale' floating roadways, were critical components of the Allied military operations during World War II.
