Cultural and infrastructure developments in Germany
The Calmus Ensemble has announced its 2026 Christmas concert series, titled “Christmas Oratorio.” The program integrates various Christmas oratorios from composers such as Joseph Rheinberger, Camille Saint-Saëns, and Bob Chilcott, using chorales from Johann Sebastian Bach as a structural backbone.
Concerts are scheduled to take place in three German cities: Halle/Saale at the Pauluskirche on December 8, 2026, featuring a candlelit setting; Hamburg at the Laeiszhalle on December 15, 2026; and Leipzig at the Ev. Reformierte Kirche on December 22, 2026.
In Freising, plans are moving forward for a new modern concert arena designed with a “Music First” philosophy. Following a systematic evaluation of locations within the Munich metropolitan region based on infrastructure, accessibility, and economic feasibility, Freising was selected as the optimal site. The venue is planned to feature a 270-degree horseshoe-shaped bowl to ensure all seats are oriented toward the stage.
