Cultural and natural routes in Catalonia
The Garrotxa region offers diverse hiking opportunities, such as the Camí dels Pescadors in Sant Privat d’en Bas. This route follows the watercourse through the forest, spanning between 10 and 15 kilometers depending on the chosen variant. Key landmarks include the natural pool known as gorg de l’Amat, the gorga Blava, and the Font de Gorners waterfall. The path provides access to secluded areas like the gorga de Can Roc.
In the Gavarres area, Romanyà de la Selva serves as a significant cultural site linked to the writer Mercè Rodoreda. The village was where she lived following her exile from Geneva and where she wrote works such as ‘Mirall trencat’ and ‘Quanta, quanta guerra’. Local points of interest include the Cova d’en Daina dolmen and the cemetery where the author is buried, as well as locations like the Refugi i restaurant Les Gavarres.
