Cultural and patriotic initiatives launched in Mauritania and Burkina Faso

In Mauritania, Minister of Culture El Houssein Ould Meddou inaugurated the 2026 National Week of Culture and Arts in Atar. The event is held alongside the 5th edition of the International Mauritanian Dates Festival. The three-day program includes artistic evenings, Quran memorization contests, poetry competitions, and visual arts. Additionally, the week features seminars on national cohesion, drug awareness, and domestic tourism to promote social values and local talent.

In Burkina Faso, Minister of Communication, Culture, Arts, and Tourism Pingdwendé Gilbert Ouédraogo visited sites in Tenkodogo to oversee the Mandatory Patriotic Immersion (IPO) program. Accompanied by regional authorities, the Minister met with local traditional leaders and inspected training sites at various high schools. The initiative aims to instill discipline, responsibility, and civic engagement in young citizens to prepare them for national development.
