Cultural and religious musical tributes held in Brazil and Portugal
Musical tributes and cultural exchanges are highlighting religious connections in Brazil and Portugal. In Manaus, musician Hamilton Azevedo will lead the show ‘Amar Como Jesus Amou’ on September 5 at the Sou Manaus Passo a Paço 2026 festival. The performance honors Padre Zezinho, celebrating his 85th birthday and 60 years of priesthood through a repertoire of 13 traditional songs including ‘Oração pela Família’ and ‘Maria de Nazaré’.
Simultaneously, singer Fafá de Belém has launched the ‘Encontro das Nazarés’ project to strengthen cultural and religious ties between Brazil and Portugal. The initiative, sponsored by Embratur, connects the devotion to Our Lady of Nazareth in Belém, Pará, with the town of Nazaré in Portugal. Following an edition in Portugal in September, the project will hold celebrations in Belém in October, featuring free musical performances in historic centers.
