Cultural and religious ties highlighted in Portugal and Brazil
In Portugal, photographer Luís Pavão has released a new book titled ‘Fátima escrita com luz’ (Fátima Written with Light). The work features 408 photographs selected from the Fátima Sanctuary Archive, documenting the religious phenomenon and its social dimensions from 1917 to 2021. The publication includes a thematic chapter on the travels of the Pilgrim Image of Our Lady of Fátima, which began in 1947.
In a separate cultural development, Brazilian singer Fafá de Belém has been appointed as an ambassador to strengthen the religious and cultural ties between Nazaré, Portugal, and Belém do Pará, Brazil. The initiative, proposed by the Mayor of Nazaré, Serafim Antônio, aims to connect the two regions through the shared devotion to Our Lady of Nazareth and the traditions of the Círio festival.
