Cultural and religious traditions celebrated in Spain and Mexico
In Spain, approximately one thousand devotees gathered in Torreciudad for the 47th Pilgrimage of the Virgins of Ribagorza and Sobrarbe. Presided over by the Bishop of Barbastro-Monzón, Ángel Pérez Pueyo, the event featured the veneration of the Romanesque Virgin of Torreciudad and the creation of a ‘communion mantle’ to symbolize unity among various Marian advocations.
In Mexico, the fifth edition of the Tianguis del Danzante has commenced in Zapopan. Running through September 6, 2026, the market serves to promote and facilitate the exchange of ritual items used by dancers. The event involves three major dance organizations representing approximately 34,500 dancers, supporting the broader cultural traditions associated with the Pilgrimage of the Virgin of Zapopan.
