Cultural and sustainable initiatives emerge in Sicily and Lignano

In Sicily, the Cinema Ammare project has established itself at Lido Rossello in Realmonte. Founded by director Marco Gallo and entrepreneur Fabio Speranza, the initiative aims to move cinema beyond traditional venues by creating immersive beachside experiences. Gallo, who returned to Sicily after working in Rome, utilizes his expertise in film and communication to develop events that highlight local stories and landscapes.

In Lignano Riviera, the Coastal Design project is focusing on sustainability by transforming beach waste into functional items. Through an initiative promoted by the Menti Libere association, plastic waste, polystyrene, and fishing nets collected along the Friulian coast are being upcycled into beach furniture, including sun loungers, beds, and umbrellas. The collection was created by four artists under the age of 35 and aims to repurpose discarded materials into valuable design objects.
