Cultural anniversaries celebrated in Porto Santo and Pessac

The musical group Tuna Amadis, from the Casa do Povo de Gaula, will hold a commemorative concert in Porto Santo on October 31 at the Church of Nossa Senhora da Piedade. The event marks the group’s 40th anniversary and aims to strengthen the cultural ties between Madeira and Porto Santo. Founded in 1986 by Manuel Vieira, the group focuses on promoting music and preserving Madeiran bandolin traditions.

In Pessac, the cultural association O Sol de Portugal will host a gala dinner on November 28 to celebrate its 45th anniversary and the 15th anniversary of the twinning between Pessac and Viana do Castelo. The program includes Cape Verdean music, choral singing, and a fashion show featuring designs by Isabel Lima inspired by Minho traditions. The event highlights decades of exchange between the two regions.
