Cultural arts programs promote community healing in South Korea
Exhibitions and festivals are being held across South Korea to promote psychological and emotional recovery through cultural arts. In Sancheong County, an exhibition at the Changwon Dongnam Art Center showcases the results of the ‘Community Healing Cooperation Model’ project. This initiative supports residents who suffered from large-scale wildfires and heavy rains last year, using activities such as painting, writing, and storytelling to help rebuild community relationships and personal well-being.
In Busan, the Geumjeong Cultural Foundation is hosting the ‘Urban Forest Art Healing Festival’ at Spo1 Park. The event focuses on using nature and art to relieve daily stress, featuring programs such as singing bowl meditation, community dance, integrated music and art therapy, and soundscape experiences. These initiatives are part of the broader ‘2026 Healing through Culture’ support project, aimed at utilizing local spaces and natural environments to foster mental health and social connection.
