Cultural awards announced at Zlatne žice Slavonije and Emir Velić Award

The 57th Zlatne žice Slavonije festival in Požega has concluded, with Jacques Houdek winning the top prize for both the jury and the audience with the song ‘Kreni pjesmo opet kroz sokake’. Other notable winners include Željko Zovko, who received an award for best lyrics for ‘Drumom od strnjine’, and Krunoslav Dražić, who won for best arrangement for ‘Neka noćas plaču tambure’.

In Bosnia and Herzegovina, nominations are now open for the Emir Velić Award. Organized by the association ‘Zašto ne’ and the International Burch University, the award honors young individuals aged 18 to 30 who contribute to social change through human rights, democracy, or education. The winner will receive 3,000 KM and three full scholarships to the International Burch University for the 2027/2028 academic year. Nominations are accepted until September 30.
