Cultural commemorations held for Miklós Fenyő and Ottoman-Transylvanian history

A public memorial bench is being inaugurated in Zamárdi to honor the Hungarian rock ’n’ roll musician Miklós Fenyő. The initiative is a joint effort between the town leadership and the STRAND Festival. Robert Szikora, a former member of the band Hungária, spoke about the emotional significance of the gesture, noting the deep connection between Fenyő and the Balaton region.

In Romania, the Csíki Székely Museum has opened a new exhibition titled ‘In the Shadow of the Half Moon: The Relationship between Transylvania and the Ottoman Empire’. Marking the 500th anniversary of the Battle of Mohács, the exhibit explores how a century and a half of Ottoman influence shaped Transylvanian diplomacy, culture, clothing, weaponry, and language. The exhibition is a collaborative effort involving eleven different institutions.
