Cultural commemorations in Venice and Perno honor Ottoboni and Ginzburg

Venice will host a musical and reading performance at Palazzo Grimani on September 18 to commemorate the 300th anniversary of a tribute concert for Cardinal Pietro Ottoboni. The event marks the return of the Venetian-born cardinal to his home city following a period of political exile.

Ottoboni, a significant patron of the arts and former Vice-Chancellor of the Holy Roman Church, maintained one of Europe’s most influential musical courts in Rome. His patronage supported renowned figures such as Arcangelo Corelli and a young Georg Friedrich Händel.

Separately, the Castello di Perno will hold a cultural event on September 12 focused on the works of writer Natalia Ginzburg. Professor Lucinda Buja will lead a discussion on Ginzburg’s 1983 work, ‘La Famiglia Manzoni’, exploring its literary style, its relationship to the Manzoni family, and the author’s complex legacy within Italian narrative history.
